Seasonal Snow Game (web mini-game)
Seasonal Snow Game (web mini-game)
Game
Whilst working at FusedWorks we were often short of time, putting our every spare minute or hour into improving the quality or functionality of a project/brief, so for the last two winter breaks whilst working there I personally felt that we had missed or not taken advantage of the promotional opportunity to send our existing clients and friends a little thanks through a seasonal fun web-based game.
Having previously developed a character and scenario, I took advantage during a couple of nights of my winter holiday to complete my vision, fortunately just in time for the morning of the 25th of December 2011. The game although by no means polished took the equivalent of 3-5 Days to complete, it conveys my original ideas and concepts well although I would have liked to spend another couple of weeks tweaking and adding extra detail.

Jobshop Promotional 3DTV Movie
Jobshop Promotional 3DTV Movie
Visualisation
The aim of this project was to produce a 3d promotional movie for the Hull based employment service ‘Jobshop’. One of the major goals for this project was that the movie was to utilise their existing Phillips WowVx 3dtv to encourage new business making use of the existing asset. The 3dtv was located in good line of sight of passing trade and would need to utilise visual imagery and its 3D presence to attract potential customers/clients and to raise awareness of the Jobshop services. Due to the location on the 3dtv, sound/speakers could not be utilised in this media piece but was added later to enhance the web version we provided for online marketing purposes.
When designing this piece, the client and I concluded that the movie would need to rely heavily upon the use of keywords and images that would hopefully relate to the viewers collective consciousness and at the same time provide a journey into which the Jobshop’s services could be highlighted. It was also equally important that the visuals made the most of the 3d effect, so whilst drafting the storyboard I had to consider carefully what 3d elements would appear effectively and also the best methods of camera movement so as not clip certain objects at side of the screen. The piece took over two-three months to complete, but was both an enjoyable and interesting project to work on. The Jobshop were extremely happy with the end result and feel that it reflected the effort put in by the FusedWorks team, although to fully appreciate this piece it is best seen on a Phillips 3dtv.

Building Services Engineering (Yhelln)
Interactive Media
When approached in June 2009 to create an educational learning application that would help building services engineering students grasp the basic concepts of domestic electric/gas supply, heating systems, control systems and sound reflectance/ absorbtion I knew I was in for an intense time of programming.
With the aim of meeting five learning objectives from the foundation degree in building services at Grimsby college, the client team and I decided upon showing as many of the concepts in one environment as possible. The piece was built as both a standalone application and a web-ready version so that both lecturers and students could explorer the concepts as a group or in their own time, the piece could also be viewed in either 2d or in a 3d stereoscopic format should the facilities be available.
The piece allows the user to:- look at the construction of an underfloor heating system; look at the different properties of an insulated external wall construction; examine the parts of a combi-condensing boiler, see the condensing and heat transfer take place, examine the flow of hot water through both underfloor and radiator based heating systems; examine electrical supply, fuseboxes and different circuits and much more.
The hardest part of the project was modelling the boiler internals and showing the flow of heat from the boiler, but after 12-14 weeks of work all was complete and the project deemed a success in terms of conveying some of the more difficult to understand concepts to the students in a simpler and clearer manner.

Ponds Forge Spa & Gym 3D Visualisation
Ponds Forge Spa & Gym 3D Visualisation
Visualisation
The brief was to visualise the yet incomplete fitness gym, sauna & spa area to aid with marketing and promotion prior to its opening in late May 2008. Although some parts of the gym existed in a 3d format, I spent many hours scouring architectural cad plans and design specifications to try and achieve an as accurate/realistic view of the completed facilities as possible. The end result gave positive feedback from Sheffield International Venues and not only were they able to display the movie on their website but also across the many display screens situated throughout ponds forge leisure centre. This was a prime example of how the utilisation of 3d for visualising architectural details can bring an architectural vision to an audience for marketing purposes.
